margaret lake

the trip today was to margaret lake. one of the new girls ananda (nandi) came along.

we took a trip to dinosaur provincial park yesterday, en route to the dinner theatre at rose bud. it wasn’t really on the way but we made a days outing of it and they weren’t that far apart. we’d were planning to do a bit of photo touting and hiking. at our first stop we saw three of these up close and personal

so decided against the hiking.
although they weren’t in the least aggressive, the bush was dense and we weren’t sure what they would be like if we accidentally stepped on one!

noah found a cool rock to climb up on instead

mr tumnus and the fairy mushrooms

we been out off-roading this week. several of the kids have come along and we had great plans for lovely photo shoots in the woods, unfortunately it as been pouring rain. now this makes for wonderfully fun off-roading and glorious sprays of muddy water as we drive through huge puddles, but it is not great for picture taking and most of the kids refused to get out of the jeep at all! mr tumnus had a sharp eye out and spyed some lovely fairy mushrooms that he just had to have for dinner. i managed to get a quick shot of him, dripping with rain and a little muddy, just about to pick a nice basket full.

introducing mr tumnus

i though i’d introduce mr tumnus. he looks so innocent but i think he is going to be a real troublemaker.
i went to find the realpuki clothing bin to get out his welcome home suit from willow’s wardrobe and even though the bin is clear and should have been with all the other clothes in the closet i couldn’t find it anywhere. mr tumnus just kept streaking around the house nude and laughing madly while smidge and beezie hid their faces.
a week later it finally turned up right where it should have been all along, but then i realized all the pukifees clothes were missing. today i found their bin upside down and emptied all over the closet floor… on top of some stuff i was looking at yesterday. i swear the smidge and beezie never caused this much trouble. but then he smiles at me and i melt. what am i to do?

amber and crystal travel to drumheller

amber and crystal went exploring in drumheller on the weekend. they found a cave, but decided it was a bit too dark and scary so they sat in front to “admire the view”

amber was disgusted to find out the popcorn mud is used to make the base of toothpaste

crystal did a bit of exploring on her own so missed the toothpaste conversation

smidge went house hunting this week and found a lovely fairy house. she tried very hard to like it, but in the end, the annoyance of constantly hitting her head on the door frame made her decide to keep looking

noah finally got some clothes. he raided amberglas’ closet and made off with a dino t-shirt and jeans. then celebrated his “new clothes” by climbing up and down trees. something he had found impossible while wearing a paper towel toga 😆

(he asks that you kindly ignore the frilly neck on his t-shirt, but says he got really tired of waiting for me to make him one of his own!)

introducing noah

the weather was finally warm enough yesterday to do faceups. of the three i started only one got done. i have to wipe the other two down and start over, i sprayed to thickly and got bubbles. i have another girl who’s faceup also needs redoing. it doesn’t have any flaws really, i just don’t like it. it just leaves me cold.

anyway, my pukifee boy noah came out perfectly. he is just as i’d imagined. even the hair ended up right, inspite of a few mishaps. i tried him first in a carrot red synthetic wig. the color was great but i couldn’t get the hair short enough without getting bald spots. (kind of like my first attempts at cutting my barbie’s hair when i was a kid :lol:)

next i tried the two mohair wigs i’d picked up or him. with some judicious cutting (read hacking randomly with scissors ;)) i got the styles i liked, but the color was all wrong. the first one , which was supposed to be auburn, arrived as a dark brown with a slight reddish tinge in bright sunlight. very cute but definitely did not go with his red eyebrows and freckles. the other wig was blonde, and i had planned to dye it carrot red. which is what i proceeded to do…

unfortunately it was late, and i was tired, so i wasn’t thinking clearly and vigorously rubbed the dye in, and then just as vigorously rinsed it out – forgetting the mohair felts! i picked at it a bit then gave up and left it overnight to dry.

this morning it didn’t look much better, but with nothing else working, i figured i’d plunk it on noah’s head and use it till i could figure out a replacement. to my shock, and pleased surprise it was perfect, or almost so. i turned under the elastic band, which showed up to clearly now that the wig was darker and voila, noah arrived!
