doll a day july 6 – water

  • Posted on July 6, 2013 at 8:29 pm

a sudden hail storm inspired a different interpretation of the word “water” than i had planned. emrys and noah were wide eyed at the huge piles of snow balls all over the yard and insisted on going out for a snowball fight before they all melted away.

ananda, shaelyn, meg and i spent a lovely snowy weekend at chateau lake louise. the snow fell almost continuously with those lovely fat light flakes drifting down endlessly, muffling the sound and obscuring the view. when we woke up this morning we could see that almost a foot of snow had fallen while we were there. yesterday ananda and i went for a walk around the lake. i got some great glamor shots of the new minifee sweaters i’ve been making. the snow was so deep that i couldn’t take pictures of the skirts. the girls only had shoes to wear with the skirts and that looked really silly with the snow anywhere from their ankles to their hips, so we concentrated on sweaters instead and got some great shots! i’ll be putting the best ones up over the next week or so and working hard to get all of them up in the shop as well.

shaelyn decided to play diva and refused to go out for the walk, she said she had only brought her dress boots, so she stayed back at the lodge with meg – who forgot her stockings and got too cold. meg and shaelyn read books in front of the fire in the lounge and flirted with all the boys in town for the world cup ski race next weekend while we were out.

on the walk ananda and i discovered a ledge hung with a curtain of snowflakes. it was the prettiest and most delicate thing i’ve ever seen

in my never ending quest for great sunrise pictures, i offer this one up for your perusal – a foggy sunrise. i love the color of the sky/fog with the sun peering through.

foggy day

the fog was so heavy this morning that water dripped from the branches.
water drops black and white
somehow fog pictures just cry out to be done in black and white…

the edge of winter

the edge of winter

the white is receding leaving everything brown, dull from a distance, but it amazes me how many shades there are when you look closely.

ghostly glow
the world was blanketed in fog this morning, the sun struggling to break through, but yielding only a dim and ghostly glow
