tiny white flowers only a few millimeters in diameter.   alpine flowers bloom for such a short time, delicate, yet hardy enough to live in such a rugged place.

creamy white thistle

we saw these beauties in waterton and glacier national park.  they have large flowers and silvery white stems and leaves, making them look like the ghost of canadian thistles.  maybe this is where the thistles we kill on the prairies go when they die…
