and so it begins again
i finished up the ornaments on my mini tree (see post earlier this month) and in keeping with my resolution to purge i bundled up most of the extra beads and dropped them off at the charity store, yesterday. i was planning to just drop and run, but they had a big sign up front that all their christmas stuff was now out… so i just had to go take a look. on one of the tables was an 15″ tree, one of the ones with perfect scale tiny branches and it was marked at only $2. of course i immediately decided my girls needed a second tree. the 24″ one is a bit big for some of the smaller kids.
once i got home and confirmed that this indeed was a perfect tree, i panicked. i realized that i had just given away all the extra ornaments :doh you see why i so seldom purge?
i found some lovely angel charms on sale for cyber monday and quickly ordered a few. but luckily before i went too crazy reordering ornaments i took a look through the beads and charms that i had decided to keep and found i had a lot more than i thought. enough to pretty much fill the tree, which is what i did this morning.
i have a few spots left for the angel charms when they come, the angel on top desparately needs repainting, and of course i will need to add lights (which i have in my box) and make another tree skirt. but overall i’m happy and my desire to purge is back on track 🙂
stockings!
made some stockings for my kids. there are too many to hang fro the fireplace, so we are going with the older tradition of hanging them on the end of the bed on christmas eve. the biggest ones are for my msd sized dolls, the littler ones for my pukifee/latiyellow/tinydelfs etc. the real tiny dolls are still waiting for appropriate sized ones.
i made a bunch of extras to list on my etsy store next year for christmas… if i remember in time 😉
operation christmas child
i’m taking a break from all things bjd today to pack shoe boxes for operation christmas child and just wanted to put in a plug for one of my favorite charities. occ is a great project where you pack a shoebox full of toys and goodies and they get sent to needy children all over the world. kids who otherwise would get nothing for christmas. the canadian link is here but there are collection centers all over the world. my kids have way more stuff than they could possibly use, but i can’t resist a really good bargain, so i shop year round for toys and stuff and then at this time of year we pack boxes to give to kids who don’t have much. for me it’s more meaningful than just writing a check. a win win situation in my book, and maybe something to keep in mind as you are starting your own holiday shopping 🙂
winter swap sneak peek
a warm blanket, cookies and hot cocoa. outside snow is falling softly or the wind is howling, but inside it is snug and warm. to me that is the joy of winter.
i just sent off my swap for a winter theme and i tried to capture those feelings. i can’t post everything lest my partner guess who he/she is. but i thought i would put up a sneak peak of the “extra” things that didn’t a prescribed set of likes.
