forget me nots, shooting stars and wood violets.
the interesting thing about being a klutz is all the things you see while watching your footing. i sometimes forget to look around at the mountains, i’m so fascinated by the little details up close.
but my reward is seeing creation in the closeups. i an awestruck by the diversity and incredible detail in a tiny flower that blooms today and is gone tomorrow. there is comfort in the thought that if the creator cares for them, how much more does he care for me?

digory goes travelling.
so having a boy in the house is really shaking things up. boys are loud and have so much energy. the girls were being driven to distraction, so i decided to take him on a road trip to explore the mountains, welcome him here, and give the girls a little respite.
first we drove off to kananskis to try to get to elbow lake. the first road we tried was closed so we headed off on backroads tying to go the long way round to see if we could get there another way. after a couple of hours in the car digory was getting really wiggly, so we stopped at the start of a small trail and went exploring.
digory insisted on dragging along his new skateboard. (it was supposed to be for his brother who is still away at school but i’m not sure digory will give it up 🙂 )
he is quite the little ham, and loves to climb on everything
we found a whole field of dandelions and digory was quite fascinated with these strange yellow things. i don’t think he’ll like them quite as much after he has to weed the garden a few times 🙂
introducing digory
our house has grown with the addition of a boy! this is digory a white skinned littlefee boy. when he arrived i found the skin color too stark and wondered how he’d ever blend in with the rest of us. the other surprise was that the 6/7 wig he was supposed to wear turned out to be way too big. so there he sat waiting for a long time. after a lot of thought and research i decided to enhance his default faceup (which i also wasn’t all that thrilled with.) i added extra blushing and freckles, then cut all the curls off of an auburn 5/6 girls wig to make him into a pale redhead. i love how he turned out.
digory is a real boy. he was not impressed that i didn’t have a shirt for him yet. “look lady” he said “don’t you know redheads burn easily?” i think he is going to shake things up as the girls have been quiet and ladylike so far.
reflections
there’s a pond not far from our house, down in a valley and sheltered from the wind. after a rainfall it has the most amazing reflections. today the wind was from the wrong direction so there are some ripples, but i managed to get this shot anyway.
banff/lake louise trip day 7 afternoon
after lunch we headed back home. reluctant to get right back into our normal routine we made one last stop at big hill springs provincial park
over the river and through the woods…
there were some lovely rock cliffs to climb
and i even found a cave.
i wanted to go in and do some exploring, but was afraid i might wake a hibernating bear, so instead i just peeked in the entrance. not having a flashlight with me i couldn’t see very far.
i ended by sitting on the bridge and dreaming of spring, when we can come out and swim in the creek
banff/lake louise trip day 7 morning
we slept in late today, the last day of our vacation, then headed off on our last hike in banff.
lichen covered rocks are so much fun to climb, and make wonderful backdrops.
the view from here was incredible! i really hated to leave. we’ve had so much fun on this holiday and it’s always hard to go back to the “real” world. :sigh but life intrudes and it’s time to go.
eiderdown/quilt swap
i joined a swap for bedding for realpukis/ pukipukis. my partner liked purple and teddies. it was fun to do ’cause i love purple and teddies too, so i had lots of fabric that worked. she sent me the dimensions she wanted and here is what i made. i think it came out rather well.
here is a picture she took of her cute zoey with her new quilt
i think she looks rather sweet don’t you?
