ghostly thistles

creamy white thistle

we saw these beauties in waterton and glacier national park.  they have large flowers and silvery white stems and leaves, making them look like the ghost of canadian thistles.  maybe this is where the thistles we kill on the prairies go when they die…

still looking for christmas trees

  • Posted on August 31, 2011 at 12:12 am

this ones not very big
digory is determined to find a christmas tree to take home, even though it is still summer! he’s convinced if he can just find the right one i’ll let him sneak it out of the park. he scrambled up on this log to inspect the tree growing out of its top.

i said we could just take a picture instead.

can we take THIS one

spying another he exclaimed “this one is not very big, can we take THIS one?”  to his great dismay i had to refuse.

over the edge

in typical little boy style, digory fearlessly climbed a cliff and lay on his belly so he could look over the edge

whats down there

i used a zoom lens to photograph him from below.
