red red rock

red rock green leaves
colored rocks abound in waterton and glacier national parks. unfortunately a picture of a rock doesn’t thrill many people (except me) but the vivid green leaves of this plant trailing down the rock face add the needed drama. i hope you agree 🙂

someone on a forum was wondering if a kid delf head could go on a honey delf body. at first i just took a picture of quinn and tiera together to show the difference in their head sizes
quinn and tiera

but then i thought it would be funny to see what it would look look if i put quinn’s head on tiera’s body.

it was possible by balancing it precariously on her neck….

i’m not sure if quinn will ever forgive me for posting this one, but i think it was rather cute. it shows what quinn might have looked like as a baby…….girl 😆

chipmunk’s among us

chipmunk

this little guy was as curious about us as we were fascinated by him. we’ve seen so many chipmunks while hiking you’d think we’d get bored with them. but they are fun to watch. (sorry the picture is slightly out of focus, i think my camera focused on the rock he was sitting on, instead of his nose which i was trying for)

bow glacier falls

river canyon at bow glacier falls f

the river was in its spring flood stage and was high and fast the whole way up. part of the trail was under water and we had to scramble along the cliff beside where it should have been.

two streams converge

a little way down from the falls the blue water from the falls flowed into the silty water flowing down the other valley (from the glacier as well but on the other side of the ridge) it took a while for the waters to completely merge, so for a while the colors remained distinct.

bow glacier falls 2
a picture taken at the base of the falls about 1/3 of the way up. i know that doesn’t make a lot of sense but i climbed up as high as i could, right beside the falls and then took a picture of what was still above me. if you’d like to see a picture of the whole falls just head over to my flicker and it’s the next picture after this one.

crocheted shawl
i whipped up a shawl for ember to wear in the chilly evenings. it’s not blocked yet and i have to sew the ends in, but i’m happy with it none-the-less.

thistles
thistles are a lot like some people, beautiful if you can get past the prickles that protect them
