i could have just bought one, but where is the fun in that?  once i figured out the appropriate size, it was time to hunt for a suitable base.<\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/onebluestocking\/44255442754\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" title=\"pots\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1952\/44255442754_86530fac18.jpg\" width=\"405\" height=\"500\" alt=\"pots\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\ni found these bolt covers really cheap at the hardware store. they were the perfect size and shape for a soup pot.  the top is the cap from a travel size spray bottle. i&#8217;m going to try all three and see which works best.  <\/p>\n<p>first i sanded them all to get rid of any imperfections and to get the surface ready for painting.  i sprayed the bolt covers with a couple coats of rustoleum aged metallic rust, inside and out. the spray bottle cap was sealed with clear spray, painted with a light dusting of the aged metallic to make &#8220;rust&#8221; spots.  and then put aside as i&#8217;m not sure yet what i am going to do with it yet.<\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/onebluestocking\/44062703355\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" title=\"bucket 2 patina\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1979\/44062703355_55cd34d595.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"471\" alt=\"bucket 2 patina\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\n<a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/onebluestocking\/44062698125\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" title=\"bucket patina\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1965\/44062698125_d689d69247.jpg\" width=\"461\" height=\"500\" alt=\"bucket patina\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nnext i hand painted a combination of coppers\/bronze, brown and teal metallic to get an aged look.<\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/onebluestocking\/44062701725\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" title=\"bucket side\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1914\/44062701725_0cda894eb5.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"452\" alt=\"bucket side\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nfor the first pot i glued on tiny copper hearts to form the bottom handles, and made the actual handle out of copper wire. now it can swing freely <\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/onebluestocking\/30037969587\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" title=\"bucket 2 side\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1909\/30037969587_16f78d195d.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"419\" alt=\"bucket 2 side\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nfor the second pot the handle was made out of #2 black eyes. the handle will be wire again.  i&#8217;m debating trying to get some black wire for this one, doing the plain copper wire again or just trying to spray the copper with black paint&#8230;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>with no kitchen in the caravan, my &#8216;pukis need to cook over an open fire. what better to cook with than a nice soup pot?
