{"id":4192,"date":"2018-09-21T07:02:15","date_gmt":"2018-09-21T13:02:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onebluestocking.ca\/blog\/?p=4192"},"modified":"2018-09-21T07:11:59","modified_gmt":"2018-09-21T13:11:59","slug":"this-is-a-table","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onebluestocking.ca\/blog\/?p=4192","title":{"rendered":"this is a table?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>the best laid plans&#8230;<br \/>\ni was ready to work on my table. <\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/onebluestocking\/29869232457\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" title=\"bench start\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1886\/29869232457_9ea175da17.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" alt=\"bench start\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\ni wanted some extra storage so decided to use this writing desk, instead of just a plain table.<\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/onebluestocking\/29869234847\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" title=\"bench cropped\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1890\/29869234847_128d9194fd.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"316\" alt=\"bench cropped\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nthe only problem was it was too big.  realpuki&#8217;s are probably more of a 1\/16 scale than the standard 1\/12 so once again i needed to mod.  i cut the legs off, planning to shorten and reattach them, but then liked the look and decided to make it into a bench instead.<\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/onebluestocking\/30934765288\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" title=\"bench and tiles\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1841\/30934765288_ef9f02ebec.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"411\" alt=\"bench and tiles\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\ni decided to cover the front of the drawer and the rectangular section of the back with tile. so first i picked some tiles from my &#8220;tile file&#8221; and carefully resized them.  since i don&#8217;t find the ruler on the word doc, terribly useful, i did up a couple of trials on the same page,  then printed them off in grayscale on plain paper first.  once i had the sizes perfect (the drawer is a bit wider than the back so i needed two sizes), i deleted the wrong ones and re-printed in color on cardstock.  lastly i set them with a couple coats of clear spray varnish.  i am extremely grateful that my dh decided to make a workshop in the garage last year, so it is heated and he added an exhaust fan for when i paint.  now i don&#8217;t have to wait for nice weather!<\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/onebluestocking\/30934772888\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" title=\"bench painted\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1869\/30934772888_354153ea05.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"473\" alt=\"bench painted\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nwhile the tile was drying  i painted the bench.  red for main, blue for drawer, then aged by dry brushing with antique copper.
