abandoned dock

  • Posted on August 15, 2013 at 5:14 pm

we went up to see mica dam (outside of revestoke bc). as it turned out we couldn’t actually get close to the dam and since i had the macro lens on my camera i couldn’t get any shots that really looked like much, but the road to it was lovely, and there were several neat places to explore where the old highway went in and out of the river(lake?) now that the water level is higher because of the dams. i’ll be posting pictures over the next week or so as i get them uploaded.

here is the first set: eilidh exploring an abandoned dock.
apparently several of the places the highway disappears into the lake make good boat launches, but this one isn’t being used for anything anymore. still i found it rather picturesque. eilidh just thought it was fun! 😉

easy cleaning

waterfall small

on one of the paths we like to walk in banff there is a whole series of little waterfalls. i have tried in the past to take pictures but there are so many branches in and around them that the photos were always awful and not worth keeping. today using our new photoshop program i managed to erase all the superfluous branches and get the fall “of my dreams”
i wish cleaning was this easy in real life

Photography, as we all know, is not real at all. It is an illusion of reality with which we create our own private world.

i’ll be

    i’ll be

if you’re sinking
if you’re losing control
and your heartache has taken its toll
if there’s things you’ve never thought before
like you’re all alone
afraid that love won’t come home

you will find me
i’m at the point of your breaking
behind all the noise
when your world is
darkest i can still see
cause when there’s nothing left
i’ll be

i’ll be the light to help you find
all the things you left behind
wondering will love still come back
when loneliness invades your mind
you’re gonna be alright
you will find me
i’m at the point of your breaking
behind all the noise

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

i find sunrises endlessly fascinating. each one is a unique and constantly changing light show. the light in the house windows perfectly matched the sunrise as i first looked out, so of course i grabbed my camera and tried to capture it. a few minutes later those lights were gone, faded to oblivion.

riches

no progress pictures tonight. i finished embroidering the next piece of challenge fabric, but too late to take pics. i’m going to wash it then go to bed, hopefully it will be dry and ready to cut tomorrow. in the meantime let me share with you one of the riches that feeds my soul….

sunset2
coming home after a quick trip to the grocery store, i looked to the west to see a glorious sunset. running inside to grab my camera i was pleasantly surprised to see my battery was actually charged and i was able to capture some of the color before it disappeared. i never get tired of the amazing sunsets and sunrises we get here. (even if the sunsets are far too early this time of year )

ghostly glow

ghostly glow
the world was blanketed in fog this morning, the sun struggling to break through, but yielding only a dim and ghostly glow

i looked out the window after the kids had left for school and saw a gorgeous sunrise through the silhouette of the trees. this time i actually had a charged battery and was able to capture part of what i saw.

mirror, mirror

Great are the works of the Lord;
they are pondered by all who delight in them.
Glorious and majestic are his deeds,
and his righteousness endures forever.
